Safeer Shersad

Safeer is an urban designer and planner, and works at Buro Happold’s Cities team in New York. He is a strong believer in the people-first paradigm, and works to bring change at the local scale. He has project experience in the design of city centers, institutions, and public infrastructure projects in England and the US. His areas of interest include public space and streetscape design, civic participation, mobility and climate planning. He has experience with complex stakeholder management in the public and private sectors, and previously worked with several municipal and state agencies in the US. In England, Safeer worked in a multidisciplinary team of designers to prepare comprehensive and strategic plans.

Safeer holds a Master in Urban Planning from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, a Master of Science in Urban Design and City Planning from the Bartlett, University College of London, and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Urban Planning from Newcastle University. He has presented project work and research at several conferences including the Harvard Kennedy School’s Ash Center Speaker Series, and the National Urban Design Conference in England.
