Lai Siew Hong is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Designer of award-winning interior design firm Blu Water Studio. He has vast experience in creating innovative spatial solutions for meaningful brands and premium user experiences for a wide array of clients for more than 30 years.
Before founding Blu Water Studio, he spent 20 years in Axis Identity Group, a multidisciplinary design studio specialized in hospitality design.
Siew Hong has received numerous national and international awards. One of his recent accolades was his project, The Edison George Town (Penang). A marvel recognized for its outstanding design in the hospitality categories in the StarProperty Awards 2020, IDA Design Awards 2019, AHEAD Asia 2017, REKA International Design (RIDA) 2017 and Asia Pacific Interior Design Award (APIDA) 2016. His other award-winning projects include EQ Kuala Lumpur, citizenM Kuala Lumpur, Hard Rock Hotel at Desaru Coast, Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort and Spa.
Siew Hong is the Honorary Treasurer of the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) from 2018-2020. He graduated from the State University of New York with an Associate Degree in Applied Science Interior Designer. He has also served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Taylor's University. He has mentored graduate students at the China Academy of Arts in Hangzhou.
He is also an active board member of The Entrepreneurs' Organisation (EO) since 2003. Last but not least, a long-serving judge at the Asia Young Designer Awards.
