Ar JABEEN ZACHARIAS

Jabeen L Zacharias is an international architect and interior designer from India. She completed her architectural degree in Trivandrum College of Engineering and pursued higher studies in interior design in New York, U.S.A.

She leads Jabeen Zacharias Architects since 1990 from Cochin with satellite offices in New York, Dubai and Bangalore. Over the vast years of experience, she has completed a wide range of prestigious projects such as Star Hotels, Resorts for Meridien, Leela and Taj, Museum for the World Bank, multiple commercial spaces, educational institutions and residences.

In sharp contrasts, she also passionately engages with everyday life situations and solutions for the masses. 'Design Democracy', where design definitions are 'of the people by the people and for the people' is what she believes in.

Apart from being a full-fledged Architect and Interior Designer, Jabeen is also a multifaceted artist and activist. She is proficient in theatre, music, dance, painting, sketching and writing which contributes to the wholeness of her design philosophy.

She was an Architectural Professor at The College of Engineering Trivandrum and is still a visiting faculty adjunct at various colleges in India and beyond. Ar Jabeen is the recipient of many coveted awards, and her projects have been published in prominent magazines and journals.

She is an active professional community leader in both the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID). Presently she is the 17th National President IIID. She is also the incoming Advisory Panel member of the Asia Young Designer Awards 2020-2021.
